When you notice that problems continue to resurface time and time again, this is a strong indicator that something else is not being dealt with at the root of it all. You may find that patterns of conflict repeat themselves and your teen continues to feel overwhelmed and stretched thin, while feelings of hopelessness and uncertainty about the future keep them up in the middle of the night. I specialize my work in helping teens navigate the stressors and struggles that are unique to them. Therapy can help your teen to regain confidence, feel energized, engage more deeply in their relationships, reignite motivation and passion in what they do, prioritize their needs, communicate more effectively, increase concentration and live a more fulfilled and meaningful life. Some concerns that parents of teens reach out to me for support with include:
- Coping with Depression
- Managing Anxiety
- Helping their teen heal after divorce or separation in the family
- Exploring identity and purpose
- College planning
- Strained relationships with peers and family
- Grief following a significant loss
- Recovery from Alcohol or Substance abuse
- Life Transitions
- Self Esteem
Sessions take place face to face in my Valencia, CA office. Sessions are 50 minutes long and are catered toward the needs of your family and your teen. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help your teen identify and edit the thoughts that impair self esteem, fuel doubt and exacerbate depressed and anxious moods. I also work with your teen to learn the skills necessary for their growth. Through the use of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, your teen learns relevant and real world skills to help them: Engage in Mindfulness, Increase Effectiveness in their Interpersonal relationships, Tolerate Distress and Regulate Emotions.
Fees and Payment
Investing in therapy is a commitment and pays off in the way of avoiding the costs of medical issues such as rehab or hospitalization down the line, due to unmanaged mental health. Therapy may also help your teen to avoid costly decisions such as legal involvement, self medicating, or the undoing of consequences that may have been avoidable with the right support and guidance. The average cost of therapy in our area ranges from 100-250 dollars per session. I am not your cheapest therapist but I am confident that my prices are well worth the gains your teen will make in our time together. Prices reflect my current level of training, expertise and market value. Individual sessions cost $125 per session and group sessions cost $45 per session.
Individual sessions may be at least partially reimbursable by your insurance. I will supply a superbill for you to submit monthly to receive this reimbursement from your insurance, should you be eligible to do so. Please call your insurance to inquire about the benefits available to you for choosing an out of network provider. I accept card, cash or check as payment for sessions.
